Actually my favorite Chinese place in town! Not perfect, but quite good and reasonably priced. I absolutely, hands-down suggest getting their Peking duck, which they serve table-side in white buns and with a special sauce. It's amazing and worth every penny. Another staple for me would have to be their coconut dessert. Their dim sum and other typical Chinese dishes are also very tasty. Only real downside to the place is that they do not serve any alcohol whatsoever, and have an odd $25-$40 fee for whomever brings a bottle in from outside. Not exactly BYOB.

Dim sum isn't rare in this part of town, but what is very rare is a dim sum spot that takes reservations. That alone is reason enough for me to suggest Red Egg when getting weekend dim sum with a group so you don't have to wait forever outside the restaurant door or be squeezed in next to strangers at a huge, crowded table. It's also good if you're not a fan of the cart-style dim sum, as they have the menus and little pencils to order at the table. They have all the dim sum hits you could want, including dumplings galore, pork buns, sticky rice wrapped in lotus leaf, and chicken feet if you're into that. Of the many, many dishes I sampled last weekend, my favorites included the rice rolls with beef and XO sauce and the sweet creamy buns - you must try both of these! Our party of 7 walked away paying $25 each including tip after a HUGE meal. Cannot beat that price for a highly satisfying meal!

Haven't been to this place for the longest time. There were about 15 of us so we had two big tables. Service was very attentive and decor was quite modern. We ordered mostly seafood. The Chilean sea bass with black bean sauce, salty fish casserole and steamed egg custard were my favorite. My friends loved the jelly fisk and crispy fried duck tongues. The crispy chicken was a bit dry. If you love dim sum, you are in heaven as this places serves dim sum all day long! You can't end a good meal without desserts. The coconut pudding was a must!! It's served in a coconut shell! The crispy green tea rice balls were also very good. The steamed milky egg was much better served hot. The cold one was a bit too sweet. PS: there is a hidden private karaoke room in the basement.

Wonderful service; tasty fresh dim sum. Place does not disappoint. Dim sum is made to order, which is great since then it comes out fresh & hot. Seating very comfortable, esp for Chinatown! Not crowded. Very elegant dining service.

I've to Red Egg a number of times for dim sum. It's nice if you're looking for a little out-of-the-norm (for Chinatown) dim sum restaurant with a more contemporary, intimate ambiance. Red Egg also has a variety of dim sum rarely seen in NYC. There are no cart ladies plying their dumplings. Order via menu sheets on the table and your dim sum comes out freshly made. Prices are above average, but worth it. Our waiters were friendly and helpful every visit, especially since some of the dim sum were unknown to us. The garlic spare ribs were my favorite. So crunchy, peppery and tasty. I put pepper on almost everything I eat, so this was perfect. We re-ordered. The Ha Cheurng Fun shrimp rice noodle rolls were also standouts. The special Red Egg buns with molten egg custard makes a great dessert. You'd be wise to make reservations since the restaurant isn't huge. It's a nice place where you don't have to share tables with unknown parties, and aren't feeling rushed to turn your table over.
